My wife have a saying at the end of the day when we finally get the kids to sleep and we finally have some time for each other. Our tendency is to grab our phones and finally check out Instagram feeds and emails in peace. But instead, we try to always say: “Phone’s up!”
We proceed to put the phones on our headboard and look each other in the eye and talk. It’s sad that we even have to say anything, but in a world that’s always connected, we have to be intentional about controlling this technology that surrounds us.
This message is more important than ever. My challenge for all of us is to put the phones down. Listen to your spouse, listen to your kids, listen to your friends. Look them in the eye.
